In defense of Christopher Colombus.
President Biden on October 8th declared Colombus Day ‘‘Indigenous Peoples’’ day. Here’s why his attempt to erase important historical events is hurtful to America’s core values.

In recent years, Christopher Colombus Day has come under fire from radical leftists, as claims of Colombus’s brutality and delegitimacy are brought to the forefront of Americans’ thoughts on the controversial holiday. Twenty-five-year-old Darlene Gonzales was arrested on September 22 of last year, for vandalizing a statue of Columbus in San Jose, California. The word “murderer” was spray-painted on a Colombus statue in Binghamton, New York last September, as well. In Minneapolis, a petition was circulating to replace a Columbus statue at the state capitol with one of the artists formerly known as Prince. In Yonkers, a Columbus statue was beheaded. New York City mayor Bill de Blasio responded to the vandalism of the famous Central Park Columbus statue by creating a commission to determine which historical monuments ought to be removed. In Los Angeles, Seattle, Albuquerque, Denver, Phoenix, Santa Fe, and Ann Arbor, among other cities, Columbus Day has been renamed “Indigenous Peoples Day,” and now, even the White House renamed the day, recognizing October 11th, exclusively as “Indigenous Peoples Day.” This attack on Colombus is the climax of the ongoing threat of attacks on white historical figures being called ‘‘abhorrently racist,’’ or a wide variety of other woke assaults on important personalities of the past. These people constantly claim that Colombus killed, and savagely overtook land from the Native Americans in his pursuit to conquer the Americas. But those claims disregard the fundamental concept of explorers and invaders. When Liberal elites claim that Colombus took land away from certain native tribes, they overlook the reality that, for example, the Camanche Indians conquered the Apache Indians, followed by American explorers who conquered them. When they request that the land be returned to Native Americans, they neglect to recognize that they too conquered the land from other divisions of Indians. The truth is, the left doesn't care about who actually has an ancestral claim to the lands. Rather, they abhor Colombus for what Colombus means for their modern perception of basic American values. The reason why the left despises’s Christopher Colombus is that he personifies the Western Values that built America. A devout Christian, and dedicated explorer who spent years attempting to convince royals to invest in his pursuits, he exemplified a quality work ethic (something the left doesn't have.) He arrived on American soil, and immediately promoted Judeo-Christian ethics amongst his fellow European Conquistadors. Those same values prevailed through the centuries and allowed for modern-day Americans to promote quality work ethic, determination, and theological resolve. But because modern-day liberals negate traditional theology, work-ethic and western values, they seek to tear the legacy of Colombus, and the Western World’s Philosophy.
